INGREDIENTS:-
sabut Masoor Dal/Whole Masoor dal/Horse Gram 1 cup
Water 4 cups
Onion 1, Tomato 1
Salt to taste,
Turmeric Powder 1 tsp
Clarified butter/Desi Ghee 2 spoons to add to the boiling dal/Lentil and 1 tbsp for tempering
Amchur/Dry Mango Powder 2 sp
Black Pepper Powder 1 tsp
Zeera/Cumin seeds 1 tsp
Deghi Mirch/Chilli Powder 1 spoon(If you dont have then you can substitute for 1/2 tsp red chilli powder)
Coriander leaves chopped
METHOD:-
1. Add in a cooker dal, water, chopped onion and tomato, salt and turmeric powder and 2 spoons desi ghee/clarified butter
2. Cover with the lid and whistle on, put on medium flame to allow cooking for around 15-18 minutes..Then let it be in the steam for another 10 minutes even after switching off the flame.
3. Open the cooker and check if the dal is done..If its not fully cooked then cook for another few minutes on low flame with a plate on the cooker
4. After dal is fully cooked, add amchur and black pepper powder and cook another few minutes
5. In a small tadka pan on a low flame add 1 tbsp desi ghee, once its warm, add cumin seeds and switch off the flame
6. Add chilli powder and mix
7. Once done…Add in a bowl dal, then tadka and garnish with coriander leaves.
8. Enjoy with any Indian Bread Like Paratha/Roti or with Rice
