roast the bones first

I’ve heard a bit of Apple cider vinegar can help leach more nutrients from the bones? Look into it.
Instant pot gets the job done pretty quickly
Pressure cooker!
Update: I should re-title this Misadventures in Bone Broth making
Attempt # result:
— The Bad
**1) I ruined my favorite $15ish 4-cup measuring cup** by hoping the properties of thermodynamics didn’t apply to it.
Was trying to cool down the broth before I put it in the fridge into Ball canning jars.I decided to use my extra thick 4 cup glass measuring cup in an ice bath to fast chill it.
After 1 minute, I heard a strange “Klink” noise. Immediately knew what had happened. CRACK.
**2) Tasted too watered down.**
I used enough water to cover the bones in a 8 quart Instant Pot. Don’t recall how much that was. Weight of bones was 1200 grams. I’ve read ideal ratio Bone :: Water –> 1 :: 2. I’ll try to stick to that next time.Do the bones really have to be covered? (I cooked it on high pressure for 2 hours – the bones definitely softened a bunch. I squished them down over a big strainer.)
— The Good
1. I added a spit and de-seeded **Serrano** pepper. Just 1. It imparted an extra flavor..
2. I added apple cider vinegar as suggested by u/Eleanor_Rigbys_Alien below. That also added a good zip.
3. I now have **4 32oz ball jars** of broth in the fridge. Albeit, watered down broth.
So…. Now what?
I just drink it periodically throughout the day? u/ReverseLazarus I’d appreciate your insight / experience here.
Should I add Lite Salt to get extra potassium?
