  1. This is in no way a simple weeknight recipe. Looks delicious, but with that many steps and ingredients, it is definitely NOT ‘easy enough for a busy weeknight’ like, maybe easy enough for a busy weeknight if you’ve got an experienced Indian stay at home wife at home ?

  2. What part of budget food is this again? I’ve already counted multiple stores to get this vast array of ingredients.

  3. This chicken recipe is perfectly tender with the creamiest, most flavor-packed sauce ever! It is family-friendly and easy enough for a busy weeknight. Serve it with basmati rice and dinner is done!

    1. Take a large bowl. To it add chicken drumsticks, and all the ingredients listed under chicken marinade.
    2. Set aside for 1 hour in the refrigerator.

    Step 2: Tomato Puree

    2. Blend the tomatoes and the cashews into a smooth paste.

    Step 3: Chicken Masala

    1. Heat oil in a pan on the medium flame. Add cloves, cardamom, cinnamon pieces, star anise, turmeric, kashmiri mirch powder, dried red chilli, and onions. Add salt for seasoning.
    2. Saute for 3-4 mins until the onions turns slightly brown.

    10. At this stage you can continue to cook on the stove OR bake in the oven.
    11. To bake in the oven, pre heat oven to 350°F.
    12. Grease oil to the oven suitable baking dish (3 qt).
    13. Add the chicken mix. Spread evenly and close dish using a foil.
    14. Bake for 15 mins and flip the chicken pieces.
    15. Bake for an additional 10 mins.

Enjoy the chicken masala with rice, roti, chapati, puloa’s, paratha’s..

NOTE: The difference in cooking this dish in the oven verse stove top is the texture of the meat. I noticed the texture of meat tastes great when cooking in the oven. However, this step is OPTIONAL. You can continue to cook on the stove.

  4. Most of Reddit is too basic for this. They’re completely freaking out – wondering what cardamom and star anise are lol.
