Fat Bomb or bite sized treat, but with TALLOW?

Download I’ve just worked out that my long-standing insomnia is greatly improved when I add Suet Tallow to my diet, and I found a great source (Tassie Tallow), so now I’m trying to work out ways to get it into my diet.

I want to make a little creamy sweet keto treats with the tallow, perhaps vanilla or chocolate based, ideally nut free, preferably frozen so they can just stay in the freezer and I can grab in a pinch.

Its got a surprisingly really mild taste, not very “beefy”, so I cant see it being any more conspicuous than say, butter or cream cheese, so I actually think it shouldn’t be *too* hard to incorporate from a flavor perspective….

I’m not naturally a very good baker! Any recipe pointers or ideas?

  1. Here’s my favourite chocolate fat bomb recipe, I’m sure you could use tallow in place of the oil/butter. Just make sure your xylitol dissolves completely.

    **Ingredients**

    * 125 g coconut oil and/or butter – I used 75g coconut oil and 50g butter
    * 25 g cocoa powder
    * 1 Tbsp sweetener (e.g. xylitol)
    * Half a tub (about 113g) cream cheese

    **Method**

    1. Melt the xylitol in 50g of the oil by microwaving in short bursts, until dissolved (careful that you don’t burn it though)
    2. Soften the rest of the oil if necessary, in the microwave, in VERY short bursts
    3. Mix together all the ingredients. Whisk well until it’s all dissolved, slightly set and glossy
    4. Transfer into your container(s) of choice (see note), and allow to set in the fridge or freezer. Keep chilled at all times.

    **Notes**

    * You can use small paper liners such as those used for truffles and candies. Put them in a mini cupcake pan or cake pop pan, or on a flat plate that you can transfer easily and pipe the mix in from a piping bag or ziploc bag with the corner snipped off.
    * You can chill it until almost set and roll into balls, then roll in cocoa like truffles or fine coconut
    * You can chill it in a buttered dish and cut into blocks
    * You can also use a cake pop tin, ice cube tray or mini cupcake pan. Remember to butter or spray it first – it might be a bit harder to get them out of these shapes as they don’t set completely like chocolate. I haven’t tried this approach.
    * You can add a little vanilla essence, orange or lemon zest, drop of peppermint oil, chili powder, cinnamon etc to vary the flavours

  2. Look up any butter fat bomb and replace with tallow. Not sweet, but pemmican sounds good to me. They did put dried berries in it
